Job Listing Reveals The Vanishing of Ethan Carter Dev May Be Working on Open World Adventure Game

The Astronauts, creative minds behind 2014’s ethereal adventure game The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, are seemingly beginning to recruit developers in preparation for their next title.

According to job listing (via Gamepressure), the Polish studio has cast the net in search of an AI Programmer, one versed in Unreal Engine 4 that can help create “an open world action-adventure” experience.

Indeed the post suggests that The Astronauts want to build a game that is decidedly different than the first-person exploration found in Ethan Carter, with the advertisement reading as so:

“We are doing a new game and it’s an open world action-adventure. It’ll be rad, but of course we are not going to bite off more than we can chew right away. Anyway, as suggested by the description, this will be more of a real game than an explorer like Ethan. Although it will still have heavy atmosphere and deep narrative, it won’t do without men and creatures trying to kill you.”

Acting as the developer’s debut, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter earned critical claim when it released across PS4 and PC in September of last year. Perhaps buoyed by such success, The Astronauts are on the verge of entering a whole new genre altogether, and we’ll keep you posted as this story develops.
