Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 Isn’t Planned for Western Release, Treatment of Women in Video Games Cited as Reason (Update)

Update:

Spotted by Gematsu, Koei Tecmo Europe voiced their opinion about the matter on Twitter, suggesting those who want to buy Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 get the English version:

Kudos to the [Team Ninja’s Community Manager] for being honest. But if you really want it, you can import EN ver.

However, as Koei Tecmo Europe added, “We said the [Community Manager] was honest to confirm that isn’t coming to the West. We don’t approve that he put the blame on anyone.”

Responding to someone who thanked them for standing by Play Asia and the Community Manager, Koei Tecmo Europe said, “Thank you. Sometimes we’re right, sometimes we’re wrong. It’s just the journey of learning from everybody.”

Koei Tecmo went on to link Play Asia (PS4, PS Vita) as the retailer carrying the English version.

Play Asia, meanwhile, tweeted about the matter:

Despite a negative reaction to those tweets, Play Asia has apparently seen thousands of new followers on Twitter over the last day as a result.

Original Story:

Last week on the official Dead or Alive Facebook page, Koei Tecmo revealed that they don’t have any plans to bring Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 to North America or Europe:

We do not bring DOAX3 to the West and won’t have any plan change in the future. Thank you for asking.

Spotted by Crave Online, the Dead or Alive Facebook page goes on to state that the reason DOAX3 isn’t coming West is due to issues with how women are treated in the industry:

Do you know many issues happening in video game industry with regard to how to treat female in video game industry? We do not want to talk those things here. But certainly we have gone through in last year or two to come to our decision. Thank you.

Earlier this year, Producer Yosuke Hayashi seemed to suggest that the game could come West if there was enough demand, but it appears that’s no longer the case.
