Evidence Points Toward Jurassic World Video Game Previously in Development at Cryptic

Update: Images have been removed at the request of the artist.

Yesterday, fan site Jurassic World posted assets from artists of what appears to be a cancelled Jurassic World video game, which was in development at the now closed Cryptic Studios Seattle.

While the video was removed “at the request of artists,” Kotaku saved some of the assets, including an image that closely resembles protagonist Chris Pratt.

Looking at details posted by artists, Jurassic World says the “unannounced project” was built using Unreal Engine 4 and was planned for a digital release on PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, and Steam for $20 – $40.

“I worked as both a creature artist and an environment artist for an unannounced project,” the Creature/Environment Artist says. “I created numerous creatures from scratch, and helped out with assets/textures for an open-world environment.”

LinkedIn profiles of other Cryptic developers suggest it was a “AAA MMOG for an IP that is under NDA. For Xbox One, PS4 and PC,” as well as an open world game.

Unfortunately, it looks like the project disappeared when Cryptic was closed down.

Reports for this Jurassic World game first surfaced earlier in the year on Reddit, where user aDinoSupremacist said:

It was a 3rd person game where the player controlled Chris Pratt’s character. Several dinosaurs from the series were going to be in it including: Gallimimus, Triceratops, Tyrannosaurus Rex, Velociraptor, Spinosaurus and Baryonyx (which the model was just Spino without a sail.)

Not quite sure what you would have done in the game other than it being described as being similar to ‘H1Z1.’

Would you have played a non-LEGO Jurassic World game?
