While we still don’t know the exact price PlayStation VR will carry when it launches in the first half of 2016, PlayStation President and CEO Andrew House revealed to Bloomberg that it will be priced as a new gaming platform.
House didn’t offer up any further information about VR’s price, but if it comes out at the same cost as the PlayStation 4, expect it to run you $400.
As for PlayStation VR games, Shuhei Yoshida previously said he thinks there will be “quite a good number of games at launch, because they are already in development.” In the Bloomberg interview, House said Sony plans to offer more than 10 games in 2016 alone, but he didn’t name names.
House also said:
VR rewrites the rule book on how you can create games. You’re seeing a large amount of interest and work happening among smaller teams, because it’s possible to create something in VR that is very simple but still very magical.
