Just Cause 3 Competition Gives You the Chance to Win an Actual Island Worth $50,000

Saying in their announcement that “yes, it’s an actual, real-life island,” Square Enix is holding a competition where people in North America who pre-order the Just Cause 3 Day 1 Edition for PlayStation 4 or Xbox One will have the opportunity to win an island worth $50,000.

Beginning at launch on December 1, the Just Cause 3 Win an Island Competition will run for 90 days. As Square Enix explains:

The contest will be an exercise in destruction, with participants racing to score the most Chaos Points by unleashing Rico Rodriguez’s collection of guns, bombs, vehicles and his faithful grappling hook to wreak havoc all over the in-game island of Medici. The more creative and inventive the mayhem, the more Chaos Points players will earn, with an actual island at stake for the top-scoring winner.

Over on the contest’s official website, the rules reveal that you can take a $50,000 cash prize instead, as the location of the island hasn’t been determined yet and you have to pay any closing costs:

PRIZE: One (1) Grand Prize Winner will win ownership rights to an Island, valued at up to $50,000 USD or $50,000 USD in cash. Location of Island to be determined by Sponsor. All taxes and fees associated with purchasing and obtaining of Island (including but not limited to attorney’s fees, escrow, and closing costs) are the responsibility of the Winner. Sponsor does not guarantee the Island to be inhabitable, developed or reachable by any means other than a boat.

Sponsor reserves the right to change and/or substitute any components of the Grand Prize at any time, in its sole discretion.

Also, if you live in Canada and want to participate, you need to answer this question: (3×6) + 12/2-8 = _.

Will you be trying to win that island?
