Sony: PS4 Leading in Every European Country, Market Share Ranges From 70% – 90%

Discussing the PlayStation 4 at E3 2015 with GameSpot, PlayStation Europe boss Jim Ryan said the numbers for PS4 and Xbox One are close in the UK, “but across Europe, it’s fair to say we’re beating [Microsoft] by a considerable margin.” He then went on to suggest Sony holds a 75 – 80% market share in the region.

In a new E3 2015 interview published today by VG247, Ryan talked about the PS4’s success in Europe, revealing that market share is anywhere from 70% – 90+%:

We have a very significant market leadership. Well, we have market leadership in every country in Europe, and have very significant market leadership in continental Europe. Extremely significant. I don’t think market share’s any less than 70%, and frequently greater than 90% in continental Europe.

As Ryan added though, “It’s quite different in the UK and the US.”

If you’re hoping for a PS4 price cut in Europe anytime soon, Ryan shot that down:

All I’d observe, particularly in Europe, is that our momentum is still very considerable. We’re happy with the price and we’re happy with the value proposition. Consumers, equally and more importantly, appear to he happy with the price and the value proposition. We’ll leave it where it is for now. Obviously, we never rule anything out and we never rule anything in, but it feels like we’re in quite a good place at the moment.

Revealed earlier this year, Sony is skipping gamescom 2015 in favor of Paris Games Week, with a big media briefing being held at the event on October 27.
