While Bungie’s The Taken King expansion for Destiny has been under scrutiny lately due to its high price, it seems it’s not only gamers who feel the sting, but developers as well.
Over on Twitter, former Creative Director for PlanetSide 2 Matthew Higby lobbed a shot at Bungie’s upcoming product, and compared it to PlanetSide 2 — which is rolling out on the PS4 today — and calls the $40 price “bullshit.”
A REAL MMOFPS experience on the PS4 and no bullshit $40 DLCs to worry about now or ever? Too good to be true? Check out #PS2onPS4 today!

I replied to Higby and asked him if I can quote him on that, which he said he’ll “happily” stand by, since he’s a fan of the free-to-play (f2p) business model over DLC that could potentially split friends when playing the same game.
@excaliburps sure, I’ll happily stand by it. I’m a fan of the f2p model over dlc, you don’t force people to pay every 6mo to stick w/friends

Of course, Higby also pointed out (and rightfully so) that he’s not associated with Daybreak (formerly Sony Online Entertainment), nor with the PlanetSide 2 team, and is just voicing his concern out.
@excaliburps please keep in mind, I’m not with the PS2 team or daybreak anymore though, so it’s just some random asshole saying that. =)

In related news, Destiny year one players might be glad to know that they’ll get “something better” than The Taken King Collector’s Edition perks.
Do you agree with Higby? Should Bungie lower the price of The Taken King or is the price enough for what it will offer players?
