Digital Extremes and n-Space have announced that Swords Coast Legends, a fantasy game set in the Dungeons & Dragons universe, will be coming to PC and consoles this year.
The party-based RPG is set to hit PC on September 8, and will come to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One later in the year. It will allow up to four players to explore together, while another player will be able to create a dungeon for the party.
Sword Coast Legends Director and n-Space President Dan Tudge explained in an announcement that fans wanted the game to come to consoles, so the development team “circled back and figured out how to do it without compromising our vision for PC gamers.”
We’ve had a clear goal since day one to evoke the classic D&D experience between four players and a Dungeon Master, and to bring back memories of the great D&D games of the past. After we announced and demonstrated Sword Coast Legends to overwhelmingly positive response at GDC, the press, partners, and fans all requested more. They wanted Mac, so we’re doing it. They wanted Linux, so we’re doing it. They clamored for console… so we circled back and figured out how to do it without compromising our vision for PC gamers.
