E3 2015 Sony First Party Studios - What We Know So Far

E3 2015 is quickly approaching and this means one thing: new games! Every year, dozens of games are announced in Los Angeles, it really is one of the most exciting weeks as a gamer. While we already listed down what we expect Sony’s first-party studios come the big event, we take a more fact-based approach this time to and give educated guesses (based on job listings, announcements etc.) on just what these first-party Sony studios are working on right now.

Check out the list below to find out what each first party studio is currently doing. We’re assuming (and hoping) that some — or most — of these games will be unveiled in some way come E3, but don’t blame us if it doesn’t pan out, alright? Until these games are on store shelves, they’re vaporware.

Now that we know what teams already have confirmed projects, it makes it a little easier to piece together what might be announced at E3. There will certainly be quite a few surprises (and non-first party announcements) in store for PlayStation fans come June 15, so keep coming back to PlayStation LifeStyle to make sure you stay on top of the news!

Bend Studio

Latest Release: After releasing the PlayStation Vita launch title Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Sony's Bend Studio took a different take on the Uncharted series. No, not the Uncharted racing game we've been waiting for, but a card game based on Sony's popular franchise. Uncharted: Fight for Fortune ended up being a surprisingly deep card game, despite the awkward use of the license.

What They Are Working On: According to job listings, Bend Studio is currently working on a PS4 title. Not much else is known, so an announcement at E3 would make sense. Could Syphon Filter be making a comeback?
Evolution Studios

Latest Release: While Evolution Studios is most famous for their work on the wild arcade racing Motorstorm series, their latest release was much more realistic. DriveClub, despite its many delays and online issues, ended up being a pretty solid racer.

What They Are Working On: Due to the studio recently releasing a game (and some rough lay-offs), it would be surprising to see Evolution announce a new game at E3. It would make sense if a new Motorstorm entry is their next game, though.
Guerrilla Cambridge

Latest Release: Guerilla Cambridge were last seen when they put out one of the most high profile Vita releases, Killzone: Mercenary. While the game had some issues, it did a good job of providing first person shooter fun on the go.

What They Are Working On: In Guerilla Cambridge's job listings they explain that they are working on a "high profile, multi-million selling franchise." That screams like a new PS4 Killzone game to us.
Guerrilla Games

Latest Release: Guerilla Games is basically the Killzone studio as they have worked on the franchise exclusively since 2004. Their latest game in the series was the PlayStation 4 launch title Killzone Shadow Fall.

What They Are Working On: For the first time since Shellshock: Nam '67, Guerilla Games are working on a game that isn't Killzone. According to PlayStation Japan, they've been working on a new IP for the past two and a half years. Expect it to be shown off at E3.
Japan Studio

Latest Release: Sony's Japan Studio does a lot of support work with second and third party developers, so it has been a while since their last release. PlayStation 4 launch title Knack was the last title the studio developed by themselves.

What They Are Working On: SCE Japan Studio is comprised of several teams so they are currently working on several projects. Most (in)famously Team Ico is working on The Last Guardian. Meanwhile, Team Gravity (who have worked on Siren in the past) are working on a new Gravity Rush title. Other than those two titles, we might also see a smaller scale game or a collaborative effort come out of Japan Studio.
Media Molecule

Latest Release: British studio Media Molecule are most famous for creating the LittleBigPlanet series. Their last project, the delightfully cheerful Tearaway, gained critical success, but didn't light up the sales chart on PlayStation Vita.

What They Are Working On: Media Molecule's current project is no secret, they are working on Tearaway Unfolded for PS4. A release date should be announced at E3.
Naughty Dog

Latest Release: Naughty Dog most recently became acquainted with the PlayStation 4 by releasing The Last of Us Remastered.

What They Are Working On: While Naughty Dog is comprised of two teams, only one of them have a project that is known. That project is of course Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, whcich won't be out until 2016. That leaves one other project, but it can't be too far in development so an announcement would be really surprising.
Polyphony Digital

Latest Release: Polyphony Digital are better known as the studio that makes the Gran Turismo series. It is no surprise that their last release was 2013's Gran Turismo 6.

What They Are Working On: Polyphony has been up front in saying that they are currently working on Gran Turismo 7. It should be a shoe-in to show up at E3 this year.
San Diego Studio

Latest Release: Sony San Diego Studio's most recent release was MLB 15: The Show. Their release before that was MLB 14: The Show. Do you see the pattern?

What They Are Working On: While they are inevitably working on MLB 16: The Show, San Diego Studio has also been working on Kill Strain. A top-down third person shooter that should see release later this year.
Santa Monica Studio

Latest Release: Much like Sony Japan, Sony Santa Monica does a lot of support work in addition to their original games. Their last internally developed game was God of War: Ascension.

What They Are Working On: As far as internal projects go, Santa Monica Studio are currently working on two God of War. These include God of War III Remastered and a brand new entry on PS4.
Sucker Punch Productions

Latest Release: Sucker Punch is the studio behind both the Sly Cooper and inFAMOUS series. Their latest release was 2014's inFAMOUS First Light.

What They Are Working On: Having just released two games in 2014, it will be a while before Sucker Punch's next title is announced. We do know that they are hiring.
London Studio

Latest Release: Sony's London studio has a more casual game focus than its other studios and has done a ton of work on Sony's Singstar series. Their last release was SingStar: Ultimate Party on PS4.

What They Are Working On: London Studio are currently working on Project Morpheus titles. You may have seen the Street Luge demo the team developed.
Pixelopus

Latest Release: Pixelopus is a small studio based out of California. Their first release was Entwined.

What They Are Working On: Having just released their first game in 2014, it is unlikely we'll see a new announcement in 2015. Pixelopus might surprise us with something of a small scale, though.
