Though others have had DLC in the past, Disgaea 5 is the first in Nippon Ichi’s long-running tactical RPG series to use the DLC sales method of a season pass. Today, a bunch of bonus characters became available for purchase, the main attractions being characters from previous games. One character is also exclusively for PlayStation Plus members. Check a bunch of ’em out:
The above are not all. Other characters such as Disgaea 2‘s Adell and Rozalin; Disgaea 3‘s Mao and Raspberry; Disgaea 4‘s Valvatorez, Fuka, and Desco; Makai Kingdom‘s Zetta and Pram, and many more are among the all-star additions not pictured in the already-big gallery above, as well as entire new storylines.
They are, of course, all of these pieces will be available as individual purchases as well. For those wanting to buy every single character, the season pass saves a bit of money overall, shaving the total cost from 4,900 yen to 4,000 yen. Individual updates are scheduled to go live spaced out between now and the end of July.
Exclusively for PlayStation 4, Disgaea 5 is expected to be released in North America and Europe within 2015. It has not been said whether these DLC characters will be bundled in with the foreign version of the game or if they’ll still be downloads.
In the past, Japan has gotten Disgaea content updates on discs, similar to expansion packs. There hasn’t yet been word on whether that will be available.
