Described by creator Dan Marshall as a “mixture of Deus Ex and Spelunky,” steampunk cybercrime steal-em-up has been announced for release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, Xbox One, and Wii U, with Curve Digital developing and publishing the console versions.
Blending together platform, action, and stealth gameplay, The Swindle has you breaking into procedurally generated buildings, hacking their systems, stealing cash, then escaping as quickly as possible.
Revived in October 2014 due to fan disappointment over the original being cancelled, this new version has been built from the ground up.
Marshall talked a bit about the partnership with Curve:
Working with Curve means I’m able to bring out a high quality console version of The Swindle at the same time as PC, which allows me to spend my development time on finishing up the PC version and giving the game the vital polish and balance it needs.
Curve Digital Managing Director Jason Perkins added:
The Swindle is the latest in a long line of high quality indie titles from UK developers that Curve are proud to be bringing to console. There’s a huge audience for polished indie games on all the major formats, and The Swindle’s mix of stealth and platforming make it a perfect fit for console gaming.
The Swindle is scheduled to launch later this year, with the consoles versions expected to be available at the same time as the PC version. There was no word on cross-buy.
