The UK PlayStation Blog has posted the main component of the update, as well as additional notes, which you might want to read if you haven’t updated yet.
Main features in system software update version 2.01:
System software stability in turning on the power and entering rest mode has been improved.
Note:
Depending on the software title, you may not be able to play without first updating the PS4 system software.
Do not perform updates using any data other than the official update data provided by Sony Computer Entertainment over a network or on disc media, and do not perform updates by methods other than those described in the product documentation or in this site. If an update is performed using data from another source, by another method, or with a PS4 system that has been altered or modified in any way, the PS4 system may not operate properly and may not be able to install the official update data. Any of these actions may void the PS4 system warranty and affect your ability to obtain warranty services and repair services from Sony Computer Entertainment.
As expected, the fix for the Rest mode issue seems to have been the only thing affected and nothing more.
Sony’s official Twitter mentioned that PS4 firmware update 2.01 should be rolling out soon, and rolled out it has. Currently, the 217MB update can be downloaded once you power on the console. No official patch notes have been revealed, but it wouldn’t surprise me if all it includes are stability fixes and correcting the Rest mode bug, which is of maximum importance given it can wipe a user’s PS4 data or even brick the console if you’re that unlucky.
We’ll update the post once more info about the update is revealed. In the meantime, go download it now for your PS4’s sake. And do let us know if you notice any changes.
