Samurai Warriors 4 on PS4 is 1080p/60fps, Check Out the Launch Trailer

Celebrating 10 years and over 34 million units sold for the Warriors brand, Koei Tecmo is bringing out Samurai Warriors 4 this week in North America and Europe for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita. If you decide to buy the PS4 version – the only one to get a retail release – you’ll have the option to buy the Samurai Warriors 4: Special Anime Pack, which includes DLC, the soundtrack, and Legend of Sanada anime.

First only planned for PS3 and PS Vita, Producer Hisashi Koinuma discussed how the PS4 version came to be:

Some of our devoted fans might have noticed this looking at our development timeline — the PS4 version of Samurai Warriors 4 was only decided upon after the Japanese launch of both PS3 and PS Vita versions. Initially, the plans for the West included releases on only those platforms as well.

However, after the release in Japan, we revisited our original plans and the decision to develop a PS4 version was made, with special consideration of the Western audience. As a result, players in the West will be able to select from all three of the PlayStation platforms at launch, giving them the ability to choose the version that best suits their needs whether it be environmental or the systems they own.

As part of an interview with Gaming Bolt recently, Omega Force’s Akihiro Suzuki talked about the PS4 version of Samurai Warriors 4, confirming that it will run at 1080p/60fps, though “the frame rates will vary at certain areas whilst playing being exact.” Suzuki added that porting the game over to PS4 was “not as difficult as first anticipated.”

Samurai Warriors 4 will support cross-save across PS4, PS3, and PS Vita. If you’re looking to buy the game, it’s available in the PlayStation Store in North America right now for $59.99 on PS4, $49.99 on PS3, and $39.99 on PS Vita.
