Just a few months ago, it was announced that Capcom’s zombie action franchise Dead Rising will get a film adaptation.
While that might not incite confidence to gamers, we at least know a bit more about the digital film. In an interview with SlashFilm, director Zach Lipovsky shed some light on how this will be different from your usual zombie fare stating:
I really like the tone of the game. It’s definitely got its dark scary beats, but ultimately it’s an adventure film. Every time I get scared or laugh while playing, I make a note to add it to the script. Tonally it will be like “Indiana Jones with Zombies.” Fun, scary, dramatic action.
Another thing that will differentiate Dead Rising from standard zombie films is that in the movie, getting bitten isn’t the end of your life. “The idea that you can be bitten and remain human as long as you take your medicine every day is very interesting and dramatic…Similar to the social stigma of living with HIV,” states Lipovsky.
The Dead Rising film will star Dennis Haysbert (24), Megan Ory (Once Upon a Time) and Jesse Metcalfe (Desperate Housewives) and is set to hit Sony’s streaming service Crackle at a still unspecified date.
Anyone looking forward to this? Or does the fact that it’s not getting the big-screen treatment a worrying sign already?
