Former Darksiders Developers Form New Studio, Eyeing Console Development

When Vigil Games shut down, many of its employees ended up joining other developers like Crytek while a handful of others set up Gunfire Games earlier this year. Now, two ex-Vigil developers, Joe Madureira and Ryan Stefanelli, have set up Airship Syndicate, an independent game studio. According to an interview with Game Informer, the developers are already hard at work on their new game.

While Airship Syndicate’s first project is a PC game, the developer has said that it would love to develop for consoles simply because of its roots in console development. Additionally, the game is being designed with both platforms in mind. In response to a question about what platforms the duo wants to develop for, Stefanelli said:

The game will start on PC since it’s the dev platform for the game and a natural home for indie stuff. We have our roots in consoles and would love to reach them, especially considering the game we have planned would be perfectly at home on a TV. So we’re designing around both of those.

Madureira and Stefanelli are not sure when they’ll be able to make an official announcement, however. We’re guessing Airship Syndicate would be happy to push forward with a console release as soon as a suitable publisher shows interest in the untitled game.
