Anyone remember the PlayStation One music game Vib-Ribbon? If a trademark filing is anything to go by, Sony might be making a sequel to the nearly 15-year old game.
The trademark was filed on September 3, but doesn’t drop any hints. However, Vib-Ribbon was mentioned at this year’s E3 by Sony Computer Entertainment America’s President and CEO Shawn Layden. He said:
A little earlier, I was delighted to hear Andy give a shout-out to one of the most iconic games of our time, Vib-Ribbon. A personal favorite of mine that really embodies the PlayStation spirit. It wasn’t a multi-million seller, but that’s not the point. Vib-Ribbon was unafraid to go against the tide. It was courageous in its ambition and it brought a completely new experience to gamers.
This is not the only time that the game was brought up this year, though. Gematsu reminds us that Layden took the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge in mid-August, and was seen wearing a Vib-Ribbon shirt.
It remains to be seen whether it’s just Layden’s love for the game or if Sony’s actually making a sequel.
