Ex-BioShock Developers’ New Game “The Black Glove” Will be Surreal

Developers who previously worked for the now defunct Irrational Games are working on a new title called The Black Glove. The game is of a mysterious nature, set in a 1920s-style theater called The Equinox. Joe Fielder, one of the BioShock Infinite writers, said to Kotaku:

It’s a little like the Black Lodge in Twin Peaks, where you’re not exactly sure where or when or even if it exists. We’re also influenced by some of the folks that influenced David Lynch like Jean Cocteau and by other movies like La Jetée and Last Year at Marienbad.

In The Black Glove, players will be able to alter the pasts of three of the theater’s employees; an artist (a woman named Marisol), a filmmaker (Avery Arnault), and a band called Many Embers. Fielder further explained:

Your goal is to improve their works in the present. And you have to satisfy the whims of the creator, the Critic and the Crowd and they’ll hint at what should change next. So the story’s really tied intrinsically into the gameplay.

A Kickstarter campaign for the game will be launched by the developers’ new studio, Day For Night. The Black Glove is scheduled for release in 2015, but specific platforms have not been announced yet.
