Gearbox has reassured Borderlands fans that although the developer is currently focusing on Battleborn, there will definitely be another Borderlands. Speaking to Game Informer, Battleborn’s Executive Producer, Sean Reardon, said that unless “asteroids” hit, Gearbox will make Borderlands 3.
Everybody will be very excited. We’ll be very excited and we’ll have learned things through Battleborn and all the other games that come out between here and then. That studio will be all the better. We’ll have better ingredients, we’ll have better people. All that stuff will exist.
Previously, Gearbox President Randy Pitchford said that the idea of another Borderlands game scared the team because it would have to be “so crazy and so big” to meet expectations. He also said that he wasn’t sure if the team could succeed at that.
Looks like they’ll be going after another title, then!
