Japan’s PlayStation Game Releases (PS3, PS4, Vita, PSP) July 2014

Here are the PlayStation Vita, PS3, and PS4 games releasing in Japan this month. Naturally, the prices are in Japanese yen, but for the sake of the audience, they’re converted to US dollars here. The exchange rate recently has been around 100 yen to the dollar, so when you see that something is $78 and must know the yen price, simply add two zeroes to get 7,800 yen. Easy as stuffing more washoku into your face.

On July 3:

July kicked off with three enhanced versions that arrived on the 3rd. Akiba’s Trip 2 got an enhanced port from PS3 to PS4, PSVita’s Demon Gaze was re-released as Demon Gaze: Global Edition, and PS3 received Battlefield 3 Premium.

On July 10:

The 7-10 split. God Eater 2 goes budget style on PSP and Vita. Both versions will sell for $28.

On July 17:

A little over two weeks deep into the month, some games finally arrive.

Japan investigates its own murder in PS3 and PS4’s Murdered: Soul Suspect.

PS3 also gets three versions of Atelier Shallie: the standalone game for $68, Premium Edition for $98, or an Atelier Series 20th Anniversary Box for $128.

Monster Hunter Frontier G5 Premium Package arrives on PS3. I don’t expect sales on par with most other Monster Hunter games, but hey, what the heck do I know anyway?

PSVita gets the RPG Over My Dead Body 2, with a regular edition for $58 or a special edition for $78. This is a sequel to a cult classic from the original PlayStation. The first game never left Japan, but the second has been announced for international release as Ore no Shikabane wo Koete Yuke 2, which will come to the US as Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines. (Its Japanese name means “walk over my corpse,” or more colloquially, “over my dead body.”)

On July 24:

On the 24th, a new World Rally Championship game arrives on Vita alongside the oddly titled adventure game RE: Vice [D]

5pb. Mages will release its RPG Operation Abyss with a game-only version for $58 or a special edition for $78. The company will give the same treatment to its adventure game Corpse Party: Blood Live, except the prices will be $68 and $88, respectively.

On July 31:

PSP gets like seven different visual novels on this day, still chugging along with its established niche.

Just like it did with Corpse Party, 5pb. Mages will release another adventure game with a $68 standalone version and $88 special edition. On July 31, that game is Liberation Maiden SIN for PSVita.

Also for Vita, Child of Light gets a special edition for $25.

PS3’s July is rounded out by Race Driver Grid 2 going to Codemasters The Best, which is like the company’s own personal Greatest Hits line.

That’s all for PlayStation games in July.  Anything interest you, or is it all stuff you’ve already got?
