Fatal Frame: The Movie Trailer Gives Off an Eerie Vibe

Tecmo Koei has released a trailer for Fatal Frame: The Movie, which is based on the cult hit horror video game franchise.

While most game to movie adaptations have been rather unpleasant, Fatal Frame: The Movie is not being made by Hollywood but is based on a novelization by Eiji Otsuka, and will star Ayami Nakajo and Aoi Morikawa.

The premise of the film revolves around a school dorm situated in a mountain town that sees its students mysteriously disappear one after the other.  One of the girls in the dorm, Aya, is said to be behind a strange curse that only affects women, with the victims found as drowned corpses after they’ve been cursed.

While the latest Fatal Frame game might not be hitting PlayStation platforms, it’s still seen as one of the best pure horror games around by genre fans (including me!).

Fatal Frame: The Movie is set to hit Japanese theaters this September 26, with no word whether it will hit stateside.
