Prior to Sniper Elite 3’s launch on June 27 in Europe and July 1 in North America for the PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC, GamesHQMedia has uploaded the first 15 minutes of the game on PS4, which you can view above.
In a crazy turn of events, it’s been revealed that Sniper Elite 3 has a 10GB day 1 patch for the Xbox One retail version, helping to reduce the game’s overall install size. There will also be a day 1 patch on PS4, PS3, and Xbox 360, but Rebellion has confirmed that they will be much smaller.
For an idea of what to expect with the day 1 patch on all systems, Rebellion offered up this explanation for the Xbox One version’s update:
The main part of the update is to sync data between the game’s retail discs and the Xbox Live digital download edition of the game. In the several weeks between sending the code off to manufacture and release, rather than sit around or take a break, we’ve continued to work on the game, making improvements and optimizations.
We’ve also begun work on multiplayer DLC and a small part of this update is to introduce a compatibility pack. This is standard for any game that adds DLC – it’s just to make sure everyone can have the same multiplayer experience whether they own DLC or not.
Rebellion added, “It’s part of this ongoing optimization process that’s enabled Sniper Elite 3 to perform well at a native 1080p on both Xbox One and PS4. We appreciate everyone’s patience and we firmly believe Sniper Elite 3 will be worth the wait!”
