BioWare: Mass Effect 4 to be Separate From Original Trilogy But Will Give Nods to Fans

While EA at its E3 presser showed off our first look at the next Mass Effect, which people commonly refer to as Mass Effect 4, it was unfortunately a brief glimpse of the engine with no concrete details or even what it will be called.

In an interview with GameTrailers, BioWare Edmonton and Montreal boss Aaryn Flynn mentions that while Mass Effect 4 will be separate from the original trilogy, it will reference Commander Shepard’s adventures in some way.

I can’t get into that too much. We’ve got a really cool idea for how we’re going to carry on – keep the trilogy separate but at the same time give a bunch of nods to fans who enjoyed the trilogy in the past.

Flynn also shared that we’ll see returning races from the original Mass Effect trilogy make an appearance and points  to the Krogans as one, adding, it “wouldn’t be a Mass Effect game without the Krogans.”

Based on the feedback Mass Effect 3 had due to its controversial ending, I gather some people might be happy that it’s not continuing Shepard’s tale. But for those who were fine with it (including me), I certainly hope we see a cameo or two from the old roster at some point.
