Over on the PlayStation Blog, it has been revealed that Surgeon Simulator will make its way to the PlayStation 4. While there’s no definite release date given, Bossa Studiosd do talk about how the game controls using the DualShock 4.
The first and most obvious step to take was to map hand movement and hand rotation to the left and right thumb sticks, as this is what players tend to expect on a console game. The finger controls were less obvious. We had a lot of ideas which turned out to be a bit too clumsy even for Surgeon Simulator. In the end we decided to lose the one-button-per-finger design used on the PC and instead condense it down into just two of the shoulder buttons.
The DualShock 4’s Sixaxis motion sensors will also be utilized to control the orientation of the hand. According to Bossa, “playtesters were pleasantly surprised by how good this felt. It’s quite an alien feeling at first but it gives a lot of agility to the hand, so people tended to prefer it over the stick control once they got a feel for it.”
Now, if that wasn’t good enough, it seems a Project Morpheus version will soon be making its way out, too. Over on Twitter, President of Sony Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida mentioned that he wants Surgeon Simulator on Morpheus, to which Bossa co-founder Imre Jele responded that they’re working on Morpheus version and that he’s hopeful Yoshida will be able to see it soon.
( ゚д゚) “@imrejele: @yosp You’ll be happy to hear that we’re already working on the Morpheus version! Hope to be able to show you soon.”
