With the existing studio continuing to operate in Kiev, Ukraine, Metro developer 4A Games has announced plans to open a new studio in Malta, making it their new headquarters in the process.
4A Games didn’t say exactly what the new studio would be working on, however, they did not that the entire studio “continues to work on unannounced titles within the Metro universe as well as further, unannounced projects, powered by their cutting edge proprietary tech, the 4A Engine.” So, this means it’s entirely possible a new Metro game is in the works, in addition to Metro: Redux, with the latter expected to be fully revealed very soon.
Moving to Malta will be “key members of the Kiev office,” including Creative Director and Co-Founder Andrew Prokhorov, and Chief Technical Officer Oles Shishkovstov.
Prokhorov had this to say about the new studio:
This marks the start of a new chapter for 4A Games. We are proud of our achievements as a young studio, and humbled by the response to our output so far. The team is looking forward to this new adventure.
Dean Sharpe, who is now on the board of 4A Games as CEO and Head of Business Development, added:
By basing our new headquarters in Malta, a member state of the EU, 4A Games will be able to better compete on the international stage. Malta offers fantastic incentives for game development, and we are confident 4A Games will be able to attract the very best talent from Ukraine, Malta and beyond.
When 4A Games announces anything regarding their upcoming projects, we’ll let you know.
