Tales of Xillia 2 US Release Date and Collector’s Edition Announced

Bandai Namco have finally announced details of the US launch for Tales of Xillia 2, the sequel to the highly regarded Tales of game that released last year.

Hitting stateside on August 19th, 2014, gamers finally get a chance to play through the next chapter of the Tales of series. Starring Ludger Will Kresnik, a chef from Trigleph city in Elympios, his brother Julius, a cat named Rollo and Elle Marta, a young girl traveling alone looking to carry out her father’s last wish. Based one year after the events of the original Tales of Xillia, where the two kingdoms of Rieze Maxia and Elympios were united after the destruction of the barrier, allowing gamers to see how the events of the previous game has shaped the world – as well as reunite with some familiar faces.

Elympios, a kingdom set in a much more real world and modern environment than has ever been seen before in a Tales of game, while Rieze Maxia has a completely different look and feel to it due to its own history and evolution. This concept of contrast is also highlighted by the addition of a new choice system within Xillia 2, that will allow players to make decisions on how to respond to specific situations. These decisions will directly affect the story and cutscenes that playout throughout the game.

ToX2

Many of the familiar combat mechanics from the original Xillia will return, but among the changes, is now the ability to do weapon swaps. For the first time, a character will be able to switch between 3 different types of weapons, for example, Ludger can switch between a sledgehammer, dual-blades and dual-pistols. Also, new to Xillia 2 will be Ludger’s ability to transform using his Chromatus ability, that will allow him to deal a significant amount of damage, but will only be accessible under certain parameters and only for a short period.

Also announced, Tales of Xillia 2 will release with a collector’s edition that will only be available for a short time and should be available for pre-order right now.
