Murdered: Soul Suspect Dev Lays Off 14 People

Just two months before Murdered: Soul Suspect from Airtight Games is going to launch on June 3rd/6th, the developer confirmed to IGN that they have laid off 14 people.

These layoffs won’t affect the development of any projects currently in development though, as a statement from Airtight’s Jim Deal explained:

We regret to confirm that we have laid off 14 staff members yesterday afternoon as part of a necessary restructuring. This restructuring is part of the normal ebb and flow of game production. Existing projects are on schedule and Airtight Games is actively seeking partners for exciting upcoming projects.

Square Enix then said, “Airtight Games is a valued partner of Square Enix and we hope staff affected find jobs soon. We have been assured Murdered: Soul Suspect’s timeline to launch is unaffected and the core team is continuing to work towards shipping in June.”

Prior to these layoffs, Airtight CCO Matt Brunner spoke with GAME (via Videogamer), where he revealed that “unless somebody read a spoiler, there’s no way they’re gonna guess what the final element is, the final twist.”

Murdered: Soul Suspect will be released for the PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC.
