Option to Lock Framerate in inFamous: Second Son Being Worked on

Although inFamous: Second Son may be confirmed to run at 30fps by Sucker Punch, Digital Foundry reports that it actually averages around 35fps, which can cause some judder and “inconsistent controller response.” In their report, they suggest, “By limiting the frame-rate to 30fps they could have delivered an open world game with a very consistent frame-rate and controller response. Instead we’re left to endure a near-constant judder and unstable performance throughout.”

Well, Sucker Punch has been receiving requests to add an option to lock the framerate (similar to what Guerrilla Games did with Killzone: Shadow Fall), and as they explained on Twitter, they’re “working on getting that option in.” No other information was given about this, but once we hear more, we’ll let you know.

Another feature being requested often for inFamous: Second Son is a time of day option, with Sucker Punch saying, “Oh yeah, we’re still looking into it. Should have an answer/statement within the week.” They’re also “looking into” adding a weather option.

Over the weekend, you may have noticed patch 1.02 going live for inFamous: Second Son. Unlike patch 1.01, this is a minor update that “mostly addressed localization fixes, and helped Paper Trail a bit.” If you’re unfamiliar, Paper Trail is the DLC for Second Son where a new episode will be released every Friday for the next few weeks.

Would you want the ability to lock the framerate? Let us know in the comments below.
