We received initial information about the PS3 to PS4 upgrade program at gamescom yesterday, with Activision saying it would only cost $10 for Call of Duty: Ghosts, and now Fergal Gara, VP & Managing Director at SCE UK and Ireland, has summed up how it should happen to VideoGamer:
It may work in several different ways, but I believe it will work from disc to digital, so you can buy the PS3 disc and then access the PS4 digital file.
If this program sticks to that, then it will work in a very similar manner to the current PS3/PS Vita Cross Buy program where you can purchase a retail/digital version of a PS3 game, then you receive a digital version of the PlayStation Vita. The only difference on PS3 to PS4 would be that additional $10 fee.
Saying how this promotion is “for the gamer,” Gara added that it’s so “they don’t face that conundrum on release day: ‘Do I hold off, or do I pay twice?'”
When finalized details for this promotion are announced, we’ll be sure to let you know.
What do you think about getting a digital version of the PS4 game in the program? Did you assume this was going to be the case the whole time? Let us know in the comments below.
