Insomniac “Proud of A4O and FFA”, Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus to Return to Series’ Roots, No Multiplayer, “Not as Long as ACIT”, But has a “Ton of Variety”

After today’s leaks, Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus was announced early, confirming the game for a holiday release on PS3.

Taking to the PS Blog‘s comments, Community and Marketing Lead at Insomniac Games James Stevenson answered a bunch of questions about the game, which we have collated below. To start, a lot of people complained about the direction All 4 One and Full Frontal Assault took, with some saying that the games “sucked”, Stevenson said:

We are proud of A4O and FFA. Anytime you work on a series like this, you need time to experiment and try new stuff. We think A4O is a killer family game (and get lots of fan mail for it), and FFA had great competitive. But that said, we’ve been coming up with lots of great ideas for a classic Ratchet game in the last few years. It’s really fun to work on one again.

Elsewhere adding: “I think the trailer speaks for itself. We’re proud of all of those games. And I think many people would say the last traditional Ratchet game we made (A Crack in Time) may be the best in the series.”

As for why it’s on PS3, not PS4, he said:

We have a ton of Ratchet fans on PS3 who loved the Future saga, it seemed right to bring the Epilogue to them on that platform! 🙂

The game has no multiplayer as “this is a single-player experience and all of our development resources have gone into that.” Stevenson revealed that the game is “not as long as ACIT, but it’s much much larger than Q4B or FFA,” but when people complained he said “yes, but it’s huge compared to Q4B and FFA, and has new planets, a bunch of new weapons and a ton of variety. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.”

Sadly, there will be “no trophy patch for TOD. It’s pretty much technically impossible at this point for a variety of reasons.”
