Metro: Last Light’s New Release Date is Set for May 2013, “Extra Time Allows 4A Games to Add a Final Layer of Polish”

Before the THQ auction that saw the Metro franchise being sold off to Koch Media/Deep Silver, Metro: Last Light was scheduled to come out before the end of March. Following the sale, the release date was removed altogether, but today, Deep Silver has announced that we can expect Metro: Last Light on May 14th in North America and May 17th in Europe.

Dr. Klemens Kundratitz, CEO of Kock Media, offered his thoughts on today’s news:

The new release date is the ideal way to strike the balance between bringing the best out of Metro: Last Light and not keep the fans waiting longer than necessary. We won’t leave that time unexploited and will work closely together with 4A Games to make the game even better. It will receive all the attention it deserves.

Menno van der Bil, International Commercial Director at Deep Silver, talked about the date and teased that Last Light may not be the last Metro game:

Since it has been made public that we took over the Metro franchise, the fans keep asking for a release date. Now we can finally announce when they will be able to get their hands on the game! We would like to thank all of the Metro fans for their patience. And we can assure them that we have a lot more coming their way with the franchise.

Then, on the Metro: Last Light Twitter account, they said that “the extra time allows 4A Games to add a final layer of polish to Metro: Last Light to make it as good as possible.”
