Ahead of the February 19th launch of Crysis 3 in North America and February 22nd in Europe, EA and Crytek will be running a multiplayer beta from January 29th up until February 12th on the PlayStation Network.
This open beta (no evidence suggested otherwise) will feature two of the eight modes included with Crysis 3, both taking place in either the Airport or Museum map. The first game mode is Crash Site, which has you securing and defending locations, while earning points for your kills and time spent holding those locations.
The second is Hunter, a 2 vs. 10 match that starts with two cloaked hunters attacking 10 CELL troopers. Those hunters are only given enhanced Nanosuits and a Predator bow to kill those troopers, and once a trooper is killed, they become a hunter.
Additionally, the beta includes the New Tork Feed, “a brand new in-game social feed that will showcase the accomplishments of gamers and their friends while offering dynamic challenges to complete.”
Cevat Yerli, CEO of Crytek, had this to say about the beta:
With Crysis 3 we are delivering the deepest, most robust Crysis multiplayer experience yet. We have listened closely to our fans and have evolved the multiplayer in Crysis 3 by adding a host of new gameplay features including the unique Hunter mode, deadly new weapons like the Predator bow, deeper loadout and unlock options, enhanced upgrade systems and more social features like the New York Feed. Top it all off with the ultimate weapon in the Nanosuit and you have a multiplayer experience that is unlike anything else out there.
Don’t forget that all pre-orders of Crysis 3 will get an upgrade to the Hunter Edition, as well as a free digital copy of the original Crysis.
