Game of the Year and updated editions have become incredibly commonplace this gen, and LittleBigPlanet 2 received its own variant in the form of a ‘Special Edition’. But, what isn’t at all common is a second DLC expanded disc release for a title – enter LittleBigPlanet 2 Extras Edition. So far only announced for Europe, you can see the boxart below:
Re-releasing LittleBigPlanet 2 for a third time may seem like an amoral cash grab, but, with the title’s progressive, and conceptually expanding DLC, it’s always nice to offer consumers everything a game has to offer, without additional purchases. Plus, it’s arguable that Sony wants to get the Cross-Controller Pack into as many hands as possible, to help promote the struggling Vita.
The new edition is set to release on February 20th for €39.95.
What’s your take on this? Is it appropriate to release too many different versions of the same core game? Let us know in the comments below.
