The NPD has released the top 10 selling games from November, with 9 out of the 10 games all appearing on a Sony console (damn you Halo 4!).
Unlike the PSN charts for North America and Europe, the NPD tracks retail numbers, combining the sales for every single system the game is released for.
1. Call of Duty: Black Ops 2
2. Halo 4
3. Assassin’s Creed III
4. Just Dance 4
5. Madden NFL 13
6. Skylanders Giants
7. Need for Speed: Most Wanted
8. NBA 2K13
9. WWE 13
10. FIFA Soccer 13
As for the money side of things, the November sales of $2.55 billion represented an 11% drop for the industry. Software sales across all platforms were down 11% to $1.46 billion, with video game hardware down 13% to $838.9 million, and accessories down 8% to $280.9 million.
Regarding these decreased numbers, Liam Callahan, an NPD analyst, had this to say:
It’s important to compare this month’s results to November 2005, which was the last time the industry began to transition between console generations with the launch of a new platform. Comparing this month’s results to November 2005, retail video games sales are nearly twice as big as they were then (+97 percent). This really demonstrates the long-term health of retail sales even as many platforms are quite late in their lifecycles.
With Far Cry 3 marking the biggest and best release in a rather slow month of December, where do you think it will land in December’s NPD? Let us know in the comments below.
