If you were afraid that Capcom had abandoned the Mega Man franchise for good, you’ll be pleased to know that this is hardly the case, as the publisher has promised to provide fans with more titles starring the arm cannon equipped action hero in the coming years.
Capcom USA senior VP Christian Svensson told Nintendo Power that the company plans to bring plenty of Mega Man to both handhelds and consoles in the future.
I can say with certainty that you’ve not seen the last of the Blue Bomber on consoles and handhelds, and, with luck, we’ll be celebrating his 50th anniversary, including all of the games you’re going to enjoy over the next 25 years.
That said, an issue we’ve had in the past has been talking about games and announcing them before we’re certain they’re going to come out, which unfortunately has lead to profound disappointment for many fans. So for now, I’m going to have to stay mum about any details.
Where would you like to see Capcom take the series? Should they stick with the retro-style 2D side-scrolling gameplay, or would the series be better served going back to the 3D style of Mega Man Legends? Let us know in the comments below.
And for the love of all that is good, Capcom, please make a game for the Vita!
