New Assassin’s Creed III Trailer Shows The Game Engine’s Capabilities

Take a look at the engine that powers Connor Kenway’s adventure. In the trailer released today for Assassin’s Creed III, Ubisoft demonstrates the capabilities of the game’s engine, Ubisoft-AnvilNext.

The trailer promotes the engine’s level of detail and ability to make players feel immersed in historic locations, such as the Frontier, Boston, and New York. Helping the game’s atmosphere is a dynamic weather system that spans all four seasons, which will challenge players with “extreme conditions.” Mother Nature will come into play in naval battles as well, where players will have to assess sea conditions by the wind and water effects.

The A.I. capabilities of the engine will allow players to meet and interact with the people of Colonial America. Speaking of NPCs, players are said to be able to encounter as many as 2,000 of them in a single “sequence” in the game.

The trailer closes with Connor engaging in combat in a number of scenes, including some direct battles and stealth attacks.

Assassin’s Creed III will be released for PS3, Xbox 360, and PC on October 30th.
