Crytek has stated that Homefront 2 will not be effected by the financial troubles THQ has been facing, with the shooter being treated by the developer as its “own new IP.”
Speaking with CVG, Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli said THQ’s current predicament will in no way effect the development of Homefront 2. In fact, the publisher’s financial woes will have “pretty much zero” impact on the shooter:
There’s been no tangible change whatsoever. There have been a few meetings and the introduction of people and those meetings are always very transparent.
To be fair, the way we’re developing Homefront 2 is very isolated anyway. We’re treating it as our own new IP and at the same time THQ is respecting us and saying, ‘you guys know what you’re doing’ and telling us the story they’d like to have, which we’re collaborating creatively on.
Following the closure of Homefront‘s developer Kaos Studios, THQ enlisted the help of Crytek’s Nottingham studio, who were formed out of the now-defunct TimeSplitters developer Free Radical Design.
Crytek is also working on free-to-play shooter Warface, as well as Crysis 3, which launches next spring.
