Back in 2010, Sega released a Mario Kart clone called Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing. Some loved it, since it came really close in recreating the fun gameplay from the Nintendo take on kart racing, while others called it an unoriginal clone that only offered different character skins and nothing else. The criticism is apparently not stopping Sega to release a sequel for this holiday season though.
Kotaku reports that today at the New York Toy Fair, toys associated with the Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing game were spotted at Sega’s booth. An attendant has reportedly confirmed plans to make another game in the series. Kotaku has no further information about the game other than new characters and vehicles will be added before its holiday 2012 release window.
With ModNation Racers out in the market and LittleBigPlanet Karting on the horizon, kart racing genre is starting to feel overcrowded. Do you feel the same way? Let us know in the comment below.
