It’s been a couple years since the Soul series has had a console release, and although Soul Calibur V has been in production for a while now, it’s still being rushed in order to make its targeted 2012 release window in time.
Soul Calibur V Game Designer, Daishi Odashima, has been experiencing some frustration during the development of Project Soul’s upcoming game. Apparently time isn’t in the game’s favor if Odashima’s recent Twitter post is any indication. It states:
We’d like to take our time to make the game but the company’s always on our back. I’m nothing more than a salaryman 🙁
Soul Calibur releases have been known for their attention to detail, and the screenshots we’ve seen of Soul Calibur V so far have shown nothing short of indicating a quality product. However, funding and time constraints have had an extremely negative impact on hundreds of games over the years, and all we can do is hope that it doesn’t claim Soul Calibur V as its next victim. With several fighting games having come out this year such as Mortal Kombat and Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Project Soul has plenty of breathing room and shouldn’t worry about battling with several other fighting games on store shelves next year.
