Yoshida: The Last Guardian Development Has Been “Difficult”

The Last Guardian, one of PlayStation 3′s most anticipated games, has flown under the radar for quite some time. The development cycle clearly hasn’t been progressing as fast as Sony had originally hoped for, with several delays pushing the game into next year.

Speaking about the delay at gamescom, Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida told VG247:

The Last Guardian team has been making progress. It’s been very difficult in terms of seeing the progress: not as fast as we’d been hoping for, and the team has been under big pressure. But we’re still making progress, so I’d like to continue to support and keep waiting for great news sometime in the future.

When asked if fans could expect a TGS appearance, Yoshida replied:

I’d say it could be a little bit longer.

The game is being developed by Sony Computer Entertainment Japan’s Team Ico subsidiary, who are responsible for the PS2 classics Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, which will be re-released next month.
