Hisaharu Tago, Producer of Soul Calibur V, recently provided some details on the game, its roster and a new focus the series has. He also mentioned something of a surprise… when it will hit store shelves. A recent translation has emerged that reveals SCV may still be a way off.Tago-san stated before that there would be a “4-5 year period” between Soul Calibur IV and V. SCIV released in 2008, thereby putting SCV5’s release date anywhere between 2012 or at the latest 2013. While this is a guess, what isn’t is what was revealed in the latest issue of Famitsu (assumed to be No. 1171 ). According to translations from the magazine, SCV is only 10% complete. Famitsu also shows the game is still set to release sometime in 2012.
With the game this early in development, a lot can change. A new game play system, new fighters, and being set over a decade later are major changes to the franchise. For fans of the series, it’s going to be awhile before we can see how all this comes together.
