2K Sports Smashes Away Sexy Top Spin 4 Ad

2K Sports just released Top Spin 4 last week, and is of course trying to get the word out to the public. However, a commercial showing some sexy women, as well as celebrity talent, playing their new game almost never saw the light of day.

The new Top Spin 4 allows players to be more immersed in virtual tennis than ever before, by allowing players to use the new PlayStation Move to track their every movement and swing. The leaked ad, which was not intended for release, shows two women clad in fishnets and leather going head to head in Top Spin 4 while using the Move. Serena Williams is dubbed “The World’s Sexiest Tennis Player” and her opponent Rileah Vanderbilt is “The World’s Sexiest Tennis Gamer”, and they certainly bring the heat in earning their titles. Such things are largely a matter of opinion however, so we’ll let you judge for yourself.

Since the ad was posted, 2K Sports issued the following statement regarding it:

As part of the process for creating marketing campaigns to support our titles, we pursue a variety of creative avenues. This video is not part of the title’s final marketing campaign and its distribution was unauthorized.

While that doesn’t shed much light on why they decided to cancel release of the ad, it can be easily assumed it was probably deemed to risqué for the target audience. However, thanks to Ms. Vanderbilt posting it subsequently, we all still got to take a look at the smashing video. Top Spin 4 is available now, and we’d love to hear your opinions on the canceled ad and it’s accompanying game.
