Prepare for F3AR

A short while ago, unofficial PlayStation magazine PSM3 teased a “World-exclusive PS3 game reveal”. The game has now been revealed and it is sure to send shivers down your spine.

FEAR 3 or F3AR if you’d rather has now been officially revealed by Warner Bros Interactive and the latest issue of PSM3 magazine which is making its way to newsstands right now.

The latest installment of the FEAR franchise promises to improve on every aspect that made the first titles so enjoyable and scary, aiming to really get your “blood pumping” with its all new Generative Scare System, which changes the timing and placement of enemies on subsequent playthroughs. Meaning you won’t have the experience twice. A clever move by developers Day 1 Studios and Monolith, as part of what makes horror games stale after the first playthrough, is you come to know and expect enemy attacks, removing the element of surprise and making it less frightening.

If all of this wasn’t enough, horror movie legend John Carpenter is being brought in to direct cutscenes.

“Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment is evolving the F.E.A.R. brand with top horror, co-op and first person shooter combat in F.E.A.R. 3,” said Martin Tremblay, President, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “Monolith Productions has passed the torch to Day 1 Studios to create a quality, powerful game that stays true to the roots of the F.E.A.R. franchise but takes players to a heightened level of gameplay.”

“After working closely with Monolith, Day 1 is honoured to bring the next iteration of the F.E.A.R. franchise to gamers with key elements of the past games yet providing fresh combat and horror experiences in F.E.A.R. 3,” said Denny Thorley, Founder and President, Day 1 Studios. “Players can look forward to new features such as divergent co-op, an evolved cover system, and more scares in F.E.A.R. 3.”

Look for more information to trickle in over the coming weeks and leading up to E3.
