Although the follow up to the Gran Theft Auto-styled Saints Row game was dismissed as a complete GTA rip-off by many gamers, the game was a success among critics. The sequel to Saints Row 2 hopes to avoid reliving its predecessor’s criticism, and according to THQ, it will be “mind-blowing.”
THQ‘s core games VP Danny Bilson discussed the anticipated Saints Row 3:
The next Saints Row is mind-blowing. New tech; mind-blowing. I can’t talk about that too much but it’s mind-blowing.
Sounds pretty mind-blowing eh? Let’s hope the game lives up to these high expectations set by Bilson.
Bilson is also intrigued about Volition’s next Red Faction game, and stated that the title will include insane upgrades.
When asked if THQ is concentrating on open-world games, Bilson said they weren’t, but the genre is “a big, big part of their design aesthetic.”
Saints Row 3 is expected to arrive in 2011 and could be showcased at the upcoming E3 expo.
