New BlazBlue Information Released

BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger has garnered excellent reception since its console release last summer. Although Europe has yet to officially receive that game, its console sequel has recently been announced and already has a release timeframe.

Titled BlazBlue: Continuum Shift, it has already been released in the still-thriving Japanese arcade market. The console port is now slated to launch this coming summer. A press release by Aksys Games Inc., the company in charge of the North American port, stated some new features. This includes a new Beginner Mode, which is aimed to welcome “a wider audience with an easier control scheme.” Legion Mode, something introduced in Calamity Trigger’s PSP port, will make an appearance this time around. Three new characters have been revealed as well:

  • Hazama: a “mysterious mastermind.”
  • Tsubaki: a “valiant femaile knight.”
  • μ-12: an unknown fighter.
  • There are also four completely new stages, and seven new soundtracks written by composer Diasuke Ishiwatari. A more specific release date has not yet been given, though the Japanese release has been set to July 1st. Take a look at some more screenshots in the gallery below.
