1) Less delays of major titles. 2009 saw a lot of good games grace the PS3, but at the same time, a lot of games missed 2009 and have been subject to constant delays. The last thing that would be good for Sony is to see their major titles of 2010 delayed, especially games like God of War 3, Heavy Rain, Gran Turismo 5, and more. 2010 is a big year for Sony, as right now they look to have the best games on the market, barring delays or surprises from the competition.
2) The Continuation of many RPG series. There are many RPG series that i would love to see continued on a Sony brand and what better one than the PS3? This year I believe Dark Cloud 3, Persona 5, Suikoden VI, Disgaea 4 and Wild Arms 6 will all see announcements during 2010, making 2011 a huge year for JRPG fans.
3) A true remake of the PSOne Classic Final Fantasy VII. 2010 is finally the year in which we see an announcement for the much asked for Final Fantasy VII. I find it hard to believe that Square Enix will not do this, especially when you look at how the PSOne Classic has been on the PSN store’s top 20 downloaded games for at least 4 or 5 months straight.
4) Less movie tie-ins and more new games like Batman: Arkham Asylum. Batman: AA showed that you can take a pre-existing character and build a unique story around it. Too many times we have been stuck with movie-tie ins or games that are at a fault too close to a movie. I want to see an Iron Man game with an original story behind it or a deeper, well thought out Watchmen game. I think with comic book heroes and villains filling the big screen in 2010, it will provide developers a great chance to make something wonderful.
5) A bigger expansion of PlayStation Home. Home has been a pleasant surprise for Sony and while it might not be everyone’s cup of tea, it is still a solid program with a lot of potential. I think 2010 will show us a lot of that with plenty of new features and new ways to use the virtual space. I see Sony and developers/publishers putting even more of an emphasis on PlayStation Home in 2010, making it a program you always want to go into on your PS3.
