Even before the PSPgo launched, we knew of the PlayStation Network game cards that would be available at participating retailers across North America. However, nothing was revealed concerning what games would be available at retail as a game download card.
These game cards have now have had enough time to trickle into retailers nationwide, and Sony is already showing major support at a retail level with a variety of PlayStation Network Game Cards.
PlayStation Network Game Cards feature a code that’s redeemable in the PlayStation Store. Once entered it brings you to a screen prompting the game download. It’s a great way for PSP owners to purchase their games at their favorite retailers, without having to enter their credit card info into the PlayStation Store.
Displaying these game cards along side PSP hardware will allow first time PlayStation Network users to see how easy it is to download from the PlayStation Store.
Sony hasn’t officially announced a PlayStation Network Game Card line-up, but we have managed to snap a shot at a store shelve filled with these cards. Among the games available via game card at retail are:
- Gran Turismo
- Motorstorm: Arctic Edge
- God of War: Chains of Olympus
- Patapon 2
- NBA 10: The Inside
- Hot Shots Golf
- Twisted Metal: Head On
- Secret Agent Clank
As you can see from that list, Sony has brought their most recognizable PSP franchises to retail in the form of these game cards. Hopefully this is just a start and Sony makes more games available this way.
In the mean time, if you are looking to download more PSN titles, you can check out the newly launched PlayStation Network Store at Amazon.com or just visit the PlayStation Store on your PS3, PSP, or PC using the Media Go software.
