Headshots & Friendly Fire: The Tokyo Game Show Edition

Boom!!  Headshot!

  • Motion Control Done Right – Here is looking at you Little Big Planet and Resident Evil 5 for proper use of motion controls.  The LBP motion looked like a blast for you and your friend to enjoy.  For those who missed the motion controls demo check out this thread.  The other case was Resident Evil 5 which while looking a bit funky to play still seemed like a solid way to use motion controls and everyone will find out next year when the Alternative Edition rolls out.  I want to see more stuff like this, clever use of Motion and not just the gimmicky motion control that was added just to say it has motion.
  • Ico Collection– I’m surprised the idea of a “collection” didn’t take off a long time ago. It’s probably the greatest idea the industry has had this console generation. Not only does it allow people who didn’t play the originals to buy them both for relatively cheap, but it also gives people who have a busted PS2 (like me) to be able to play these great games again in HD. There are a ton of other franchises that I would love to see get this same treatment, like Syphon Filter, Suikoden, and the Sly Cooper games. Yea, I’m probably going to end up re-buying a lot of PS2 games, but as long as it comes with trophy support, some special commentary by the developers, or a demo for God of War 3, it’ll never bother me.
  • PSP Bluetooth Headset – Unlike with R(Infinity!)M, Sony has made a very wise choice. This headset basically serves to enhance features already present on the PSP, like Skype, and it gets rid of that annoying headset wire I always have to spend 5 minutes untangling. Now, Sony made a really high-quality headset for the PS3, so I am going to assume the PSP headset will be very high in quality as well. Naturally, if this headset doesn’t work well, it will just be another knock against the PSP, along with a very long line of others. This announcement has also made me realize this should have come out a long time ago, but better late than never, especially since most Sony products fall into the “never” category.
