Speaking at the Brighton Develop Conference, Sony Europe developer services boss Kish Hirani talked about the motion controller that was unveiled at this year’s E3 and how Sony is progressing with the technology.

“It can track true 3D, where ever I move it will fully track on every axis.

“We’re not getting any lag, which we had with the camera-based stuff on PS3 before. It is very quick and responsive.”

Adding, he stated:

“There’s a whole spectrum of things you can do with this controller.

“It picks up all the pitch and movement. It’s precise and responsive – the sphere on [the front] is what the controleller is tracking – it uses the full RGB spectrum for the colours.”

Although a firm release date for the motion controller has not been given, Sony has stated they are shooting for a Spring 2010 time frame.
