In a post about the recently released Home ARG game, Cydoniax, the Community Manager of PlayStation Home, has confirmed that two highly requested features are in development. She confirms that Cross-Game Voice Chat, as well as Voice Messaging are currently in development and will be making their way onto a PlayStation 3 near you in the future.

The beauty of Voice Messaging is that you can just hook up a headset, and leave a voice message for your friend to listen to later on. The point here is that you get your ideas across faster and express a lot more emotion in your messages. In addition, you will now be able to chat in-game with other users regardless of what game you are playing. For example, one could be blasting Majini heads in Resident Evil 5, while having a nice discussion with a friend who is playing an intense match of KillZone 2.

Here is the official response from CydoniaX:

When are we getting game launching abilities for every multiplayer game in the PS3 library? Why is it that the most basic of features for both the XMB and HOME get prioritized and delivered before all the extra stuff?

1) XMB – Voice Chat across games
2) XMB – Voice messaging(30 sec clip)
3) HOME – Game Launching for all games

Deliver what the fans want first and foremost then surprise us with all this Xi stuff.

All that stuff is still in development, game launching started with Warhawk and should be supported by all future game spaces now. It takes time, but we haven’t forgotten about all the stuff that our users really want!
