$250 Well Spent

Written by Chris Rah Osiris

I am very excited about the upcoming Sony 1st party releases this Fall. I personally think it is one of the strongest I have seen in years. To show my support and gratitude, I decided to go on a pre-order spree. Let us detail my list:

  1. LittleBigPlanet
  2. Socom: Confrontation
  3. Resistance 2: Collector’s Edition
  4. PS3 Wireless Keypad

Not a bad list to me.

LittleBigPlanet is easily one of Sony’s most ambitious titles to date. It gives the power to the gamer. You can really choose how you experience the game. You can create levels, play the traditional levels, or play levels created by other gamers. That is a lot of power. I have to get this game in my possession Day 1. I am looking forward to experiencing more of the fun that I had at E3.

Socom: Confrontation makes me happy. It is a game that is fun to play. There are millions of Socom fans. I repeat, there are millions of Socom fans. So I do not think there should be a hard time finding someone to play with. Not saying that this game is not worth a purchase in its own right, you should purchase it, but the fact that it comes with the official headset seals the deal. Sony announced today that the official headset will retail for $50. Pay the extra $10 and get a great game to use the headset with. Be economical.

The official headset is getting its own paragraph because I love it. Firmware will be released that will allow you to see the battery level of the headset on screen. Not to mention fancy features such as noise reduction and the ability to link the bad boy to your phone. The headset will function as a mic when connected to its charging station. The High Quality mode should be something to see. I hope to see my Home avatar react according to my voice commands someday. Here’s hoping.

Resistance 2 is in a league of its own. The game is simply amazing. Insomniac has my heart and R2 has my PS3’s attention. I cannot wait. Nathan Hale will be on my TV screen a lot in November, December, and all of the way until Killzone 2 comes out. The collector’s edition is just a nice deal. Too much swag to pass up for only $20 extra dollars.

Last and not least is the wireless keypad. I love it. I want it. I do not care if you think it is too expensive. It is a 1st Party peripheral. That simply means that it will work and should work well. Plus I will have plenty of messages to send in Home and in the many games that I will be playing in the future. I will connect it to my laptop on occassions as well. Maximize its use.

So did I spend my money well?
